Here are some tips and tricks I learned for patching a blown tractor tire.
Lift the tractor and remove the flat tire. Empty any additional air. Separate the tire from the rim using 2×24″ tire irons. I found it additionally helpful to use the excavator bucket to hold down the tire and free the bead from the rim. Using the two tire irons pry the rubber over the rim and remove the tire. Using a spray solution of dish soap and water spray the rim and tire to ease the removal of the tire from the rim.
Using a rubber patch and rubber glue. Patch the tire from the inside.
Once the glue has dried. Put the tire back on the rim in the same way it came off. Spray the rim and tire with soap and water. Force the tire back over the rim using the tire irons and the excavator bucket.
With the tire back on the rim. It’s time to reseat the bead of the tire to the sides of the rim. To do this you can use ratchet straps. I found that a winch is easier and safer. Constrict the center of the tire using the winch and start to pump air into the tire. Doing this forces air pressure to the sides of the tire and pushes the tire flush with the rim reseating it. Now remove the tire from the winch and mount it to the tractor. Fill with air and voila, bobs your Uncle.
